I’ve been a Maker as long as I can remember. Even before the term “Maker” was coined, I was in the garage building a project or tinkering on something. When I was a child, I would rather watch This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop than cartoons. In middle school, I would make wooden swords and other projects for my friends, and in high school I built my own locker shelves. In college, when my wife and I were dating in the mid 1990’s, I made her an
oak curio cabinet and surprised her for her birthday.
As you can see, I’ve always loved creating and making things, but it wasn’t until 2011 that I took my game to the next level. That was the year that I built my workshop out back. This shop has allowed me a place to set up my existing tools and equipment, as well as room to purchase additional ones.
For several years after I built my shop, I was content doing projects and building furniture that only those people who visited my house would ever see. That all changed in November 2017 when I created my YouTube channel. I was transforming my tie tack collection into tie clips, and I searched YouTube for a video of someone demonstrating the process. I could not locate any evidence that anyone had ever done this before, so I decided to film myself doing this procedure and share it with the world. After that, I got YouTube fever! I posted four videos that first week, and for the better part of a year, I posted one video every week. My video releasing pace has slowed a bit since then, but I truly believe that these days I am doing my best work in the shop and on YouTube.
I started this website in 2021 as a direct result of my YouTube channel and all the positive feedback that has come from it. I wanted a way to not only showcase my projects and shop, but to also offer a means in which I could connect and communicate with the viewers of my videos. It’s my hope that my fellow Makers at all skill levels will find this site enjoyable and informative.
Thank you for reading to the end, and please take some time to explore the rest of the site. Check back often, as I plan to update it from time to time, adding new projects and information that will hopefully be entertaining and useful to all.
